My half of a trade with :iconspeedeh:

This is her character Areela, the tragically enslaved Goddess of Past, Present & Future.

I had a TON of fun doing this, it's a pose I wouldn't normally go with so there was a refreshing challenge in doing something different.

Unfortunately I was a complete doofus and lost all the links to the stock and textures I used >_< I will try to relocate them, but for now I'm forced to be a very bad artist and not provide links to my resources -hangs head in shame-

The pose is great, you did a wonderful job capturing the emotion, the despair in the character through the dull background colors (without the background being dull) and the lost, searching posing of the body. The uplifted face, the understated tears, nicely done.

The only real negatives are the right leg and left hand. The former doesn't seem to be resting on the ground, and that's probably because trying to get the top of the foot to fold against the floor and look right is hard...feet are damned hard. LOL And the left hand, it feels like the fingers should be splayed out, but they're actually folded in; or if they're folded in, they should be clutching something but aren't.

Still and all, a powerful piece with two easily-overlooked hiccups, and I really enjoyed it.

Take care
Don

I agree with both your points. In the reference I had the right leg was almost completely obscured by the way the model's skirt was oddly stretched over her lower body, and I think ultimately for the hand I got a little too heavy with the shading. Fingers are such awkward little lumpy sausage-things, they never come out right!

Thanks for your comments, and I'm glad you liked it! :D
